I have been a “busy little Bee” this last week or so. Firstly, we had friends to stay for a few nights, which is lovely; the sort of mates you have known for ever and pick up with where you left off last time, no matter how long it has been since you last got together. BUT this always entails a little extra housework to get a bit tidy! (A continuous problem in this household!) We made the most of their visit and had a few outings and for once the weather behaved!
Secondly the veg garden is coming into full production and I have been pickling courgettes; (I’ll add this to the recipe page – so easy and delicious) and making jam. Clearing out the freezer of last year’s fruit! I have got to have a runner bean and mangetout picking session and get some of those frozen down before they are past their best.
I have been growing a few sugar snap peas, which are nearly over, and an old fashioned french variety mangetout. We have been eating a succession of these for weeks.
Then this coming weekend I am keeping a jewelry making friend company at a two day craft fair and have been framing a few pictures to take a long and making a few bits and bobs to try and sell. I thought I may as well seize the opportunity to try and sell something if I am sitting in the fair all weekend. This little project has kept me pretty busy wet days and evenings. Among my “makings” I have painted some little children’s door name plates that can be “personalised” – must say I am quite pleased how these turned out.
After all the activity at least I’ll be sitting down all weekend. . . . . . . . . .
