We have just done the second of the Christmas present exchanges with family who live a long way away and who we will not see over the holiday. We met for a very pleasant pub lunch half way between – just a couple of hours drive away. It does get a bit silly around this time of the year with “Christmas” entertaining. It is difficult to strike the right balance somehow. Is it me being old and grouchy? Anyway, a couple of organisations I belong to are going to give the money we would have spent to charity which I believe, in some circumstances, is the better option.
The sun did poke through the clouds today and we had a very beautiful drive through the Hereford and Worcestershire countryside to reach our destination on the edge of the Malvern Hills ( a spectacular outcrop between the Severn and Wye valley plains). We have had dank and dismal or wet and windy weather most of the week; together with the short days it has been a bit depressing. However, the sun shone today and the world always looks a better place.

Anyway, I must get back to the Christmas card writing and so on . . . . more mince pies to bake . . . .
